Today LA TIMES published an article about LA's 'gloomy' summer and temperatures less than normal. Check out this excerpt below from the LA TIMES:

The gloomier summer hasn't hurt tanning salon operators such as L.A. Sunset Tan. For some customers, getting their tan from a machine was more practical than waiting for a sunny day at the beach, said Nick D'Anna, manager of the West Hollywood salon.

"When you don't have pristine L.A. conditions, with the gloom or rain, people are more aware of what they look like," D'Anna said. "When it rains or it's gloomy in L.A., that's when you see a lot of people snap out of their tanning coma."

This past weekend we had a couple Sunset Tan birthdays to celebrate. The celebration took place at Michael Mina's XIV Restaurant in West Hollywood. The party was held in the outdoor covered bar area where we ate delicious appetizers, had some drinks, and listened to some great music. Our last year's Miss Sunset Tan 2008, Bambi celebrated her birthday as well as a Sunset Tan friend Josh Nasar. We have a few pics to share with you all. Happy Birthday Josh and Bambi!

Win A Trip To Hollywood And Meet The Cast!

A couple weekends ago we flew our winner, Larry Browder from Savannah, Georgia to Hollywood, CA to meet the cast of Sunset Tan. Larry was thrilled to be the winner out of thousands of other fans who entered this contest. We couldn't have been happier with our winner. He was a great sport and loved every minute of his 'Hollywood' trip. Saturday's dinner at the Geisha House was truly amazing!"

"Sunday we rolled on down to Venice Beach where I rented a skateboard for the first time and hopped on the path trying not to bust my *** as it had been about 30 years since I'd been on a skateboard! You guys are so nice! I was close to missing my flight on purpose, to hang more with you two!!"

Miss Sunset Tan 2009 - And the winner is...

Last weekend was action packed during the Miss Sunset Tan 2009 Swimwear Pageant at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. We are happy to present Miss Hillary Fisher from Charleston, South Carolina as the new Miss Sunset Tan 2009. Saturday afternoon (7-25-09) was the preliminary competition where 30 gorgeous ladies had to strut their stuff for over 25 celebrity judges and sponsors, and of course, hundreds of poolside guests. Later that evening, partygoers made their way to the Palms Pool as the pool served as the official Kandy Vegas playground, transforming into a massive ultra-lounge for the Kandy Vegas Lingerie Ball. The evening featured a unique poolside performance by Grammy award-winning artist, Snoop Dogg. On Sunday, Hillary Fisher was crowned the new Miss Sunset Tan 2009. Pastry chef wins Miss Sunset Tan 2009 at the Palms Hotel

First there was 30, and then 20. Then they were cut down to 10 finalists, and it wound up with 28-year-old pastry chef Hillary Fisher from Charleston, S.C., being crowned Miss Sunset Tan 2009 at the second annual swimsuit pageant at the Palms.

Seconds after she won, Hillary told me: “I didn’t think I’d even get into the Top 10. There were just so many beautiful women competing. I never guessed I’d go all the way and win. I’m speechless. I’ve never been this excited in my life, and it’s been a longtime dream finally coming true.”

Hillary is a specialty cake baker who runs her catering service from home. Now she will move her business to Las Vegas as she takes on the role of official spokesmodel for Sunset Tan, which has a tanning salon here at the Palms Place. Hillary also will be seen in Season 3 of E!’s Sunset Tan. I served as one of the judges for the pageant, which was filmed as Season 3’s premiere in September.

Hillary was previously one of Playboy’s Top 10 models and was a candidate for the magazine’s Model of the Year.
